When are we?
We're jumping between the writing of the later chapters in Isaiah and events early in the Gospel of John. I'll guess we're jumping between 711 BC and 29 AD.
Where are we?
Mostly in Israel, but the spiritual truths Isaiah and Jesus showed not only apply to people in Israel, but outsiders like me.
Why are we here now?
I'm trying to follow the footsteps of Jesus' thoughts as expressed in several parts of the book of John.
Sometimes I don't think it crosses peoples' mind that Jesus believed His Father -- that somehow faith and trust were not a part of Jesus' life. But that's just not how Jesus lived.
I'm going to draw on two years of podcast experience and get a bird's eye pattern of why I believe Jesus believed there was a fountain of life and Jesus enjoyed drinking from it.
When I was a kid I liked math. To solve a math problem, sometimes I had to use facts that might not be apparant when I first looked at the problem. After a while, some theorems or facts came to light. In this episode, I'm taking you on a tour through some Scriptures that I think prove something. But in Scripture it's hard to prove something. So I'm going to state my thoughts as beliefs. I'll tell you what I believe, and then tell you what Scriptures I'm using to explain it.
To please God the Heavenly Father, it might be good to look up these Scriptures and see what they say. Or look up ones that counter the beliefs I'm publicizing.
Let’s Get Into It IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT -- BA SHEM YESHUA!
I beleive Jesus drank from the waters described in Isaiah 55. I believe He still drinks from them if He wants!
Here's Is 55:1:
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price."
I see no reason why Jesus couldn't drink from the spiritual fountains that He and His Heavenly Father want others to drink from. I believe Jesus knew the wonderful power of drinking the spiritual water that God gives.
Let me skip back to Isaiah 51...
"For the Lord will comfort Zion,
He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
Thanksgiving and the voice of melody."
-- Is 51:3
I note that comfort is a word repeated above.
When Isaiah says, "He will make her wilderness like Eden," I believe this Scripture could be talking about a spiritual or soulish wilderness as well as a natural wilderness. Eden is a place where you can walk with the Most High God.
Natural water transforms deserts and wilderness. Places like the garden of the Lord are a great comfort. Our emotional spiritual lives can be like deserts, but I beleive Jesus knows that a river of life can cause all kinds of good things to grow.
So are the spiritual waters in Isaiah chapters 51 and 55 the same waters? I believe they're related and I believe Jesus drank them before recommending them to others.
I also believe Jesus believed there was a fountain for non-Israeli foreigners like me to drink from. I believe Jesus had already drunk the spiritual water He was offering this Samaritan woman at the well:
John 4:13-14:
13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
How did He know that the spiritual water He gives becomes a spring of water? Maybe because He drank this spiritual water Himself?
I believe the line from Isaiah 51 "He will make her wilderness like Eden" implies a spiritual river of life somewhat like what was flowing in the Garden of Eden.
John 7:38-39
38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Obviously Jesus had at least one Scripture in mind with "as the Scripture has said." Was He referring to Isaiah's "He will make her wilderness like Eden?" Was He referring to some other Scriptures?
I believe that the Scriptures help us believe what Jesus believes. I believe Jesus drinks the Spiritual Drink of the Holy Spirit.
In the Future
People will trust Jesus and drink the Holy Spirit and His Father's words and then pass the invitation on to others!
