I'm going to satirize the idea of being BIG.

This is one of the things disconnected mouths that advertise on screens like to say. THIS IS SOMETHING BIG!

Here are a few satirical snippets I came up with.

I used to go to corporate indoctrination events that went something like this:

THE REALLY BIG VISION!!

You are a part of something really big!! 

Our corporate management has a new vision. We're implementing a new industry standard that our rival competitors have been doing for over three days!

It may be an inconvenience to some of us and we might have to work smarter -- not harder. The only strain is this:

The management vision involves all of our employees closing their eyes and wishing really hard that common sense no longer applies. 

We hope you get that vision, because if you don't you'll be on an upcoming layoff list.

That's why your attendance at this online rally is really important!

Remember -- you are a part of something really big!!

Here's another snippet that came to me when I visited the San Diego Zoo.

I was on a tour bus. The entrance fee was a little steep, but it bought a chance to sit on a seat in an open air tour bus -- two levels, no less!

The tour guide said about four times -- maybe more -- that the San Diego Zoo was something really big. And we had mande a really big choice in coming to the zoo. Our visit there was something really big!

Even stupid political ideas can try to be oversized.

And when you vote this fall, you can be part of something BIG!

Your vote for the ZYX initiative will help us finally put an end to the struggle over biased alphabetic ordering forever.

With that introduction to something big, let me look at King Nebuchadnezzar's first dream. Which had something BIG that ran into trouble and disturbed His Majesty's sleep.

King N saw a statue. It was big. Imposing. Terrible. 

Maybe bigger than Godzilla.

Made of both precious metals and more ordinary materials.

But it couldn't move.

The head of the statue represented King N himself.

King N liked being part of something BIG.

How could something this BIG fail?

Never mind the previous kingdom of Babylon centuries before which had dispersed when God confused the kingdom with multiple languages.

Or the kingdom of Egypt that the nation of Israel had escaped from, also centuries before.

Or the kingdom of Egypt that King N had defeated in his lifetime.

Or the other kingdoms King N had destroyed.

In King N's mind, maybe being BIG was Greatness. Maybe in his mind, being BIG was permanence even beyond death.

But God let King N know His plan in a dream. See Daniel 2.

God was going to take a small thing -- like a rock -- and it would move and grow.

And the BIG thing that King N was a part of would eventually become something so beat up the wind of God's purposes would blow it away as if it had never been there.

Being BIG can Come from being alive -- and having the life of God in you -- like the rock in King Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

That rock is the Kingdom of God that Jesus has planted. Even now it's making its presence known throughout the world.

Jesus explained that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, which starts out as the smallest of garden seeds... 

The rest will be history.
