The Book of Job -- The Hall of Things to Consider
The Book of Job is a template for the Most High to fill in later in time.
produced by static force llc sometimes things don't change.
I'm seeing something about the Book of Job that I hadn't realized earlier. God is way more serious about the Book of Job than I thought.
I thought it was about an argument between one guy and three other guys. The three other guys said things that were kind of rough and callous. I figured the best way to deal with the Book of Job in a MODERN PODCAST way would be to find the top three things that happened in the Book, distill them into a nice episode and go on.
I find I can't do that. The Book of Job is more like the insides of Noah's ark. Instead of animals; The Book of Job contains insight into all kinds of information -- including information about God Himself.
The Gospel of John warns that there wouldn't be enough room in the world to write all the things Jesus has done. John 21
I've got to remember that I'm not here to catalog everything. I'm here to point out who Jesus is. That's my purpose in this podcast. If I point out the person and point out the simple steps He commands, He will reveal HImself and we can each be part of His catalog.
Knowing that saves me from having to be a know-it-all.
….
In this episode, I point out some of the kinds of things that can be learned from the Book of Job. I don't pretend to have explored all the territory I'm about to describe. But I will point out some hints at some insights into who Jesus is – and has been.
By way of background, Jesus was with the Father at creation. Later He was with the Father when someone appeared in a cloud at the end of Job and started to restore Job from his calamity. I think it was Jesus in the cloud.
THREE
Want to see a hint that Jesus will be dead in the grave for three days? Mix the three men in Job that argued and take a look at how Joseph interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker. Three men start to get involved in all kinds of scenarios starting here at the Book of Job.
The three men who argued with Job I believe foreshadow the three days and nights Jesus would be in the grave. I think later in the Bible three men are a common sign that hints at Jesus being dead three days and three nights. For instance, Jesus made that hint when He raised Jairus' daughter from the grave. He took three disciples with Him: Peter, James and John
LOOK AT OTHER SUBJECTS. WANT TO??
Want to see motivations of people who would crucify Jesus? Look in the Book of Job at how the three men handled conversations with spirits and good works.
Want to see how the crucifixion is a picture of most every argument you'll have about the Most High? It's in Job.
Jesus' prayer on the cross for forgiveness of His oppressors -- forgive for they know not what they do -- is a close fulfillment to God's restoration of Job.
I just want to mention – if the guys at the crucifixion DIDN’T know what they were doing, I hesitate to want to see guys who DID know what they were doing.
MORE ABOUT THE CLOUD
God spoke from the cloud to Job and his three disputants. This suggests that there was also a cloud involved in Jesus' crucifixion.
Jesus mentioned this as one of the last things He said at His trial. Jesus had earlier heard from a cloud saying “This is my Son. Listen to Him”. But He had another time with a cloud in mind when …
He was asked if He was the Son of the Blessed. He replied in
Mark 14:62
“I am. And you will see the Son of
Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and
coming with the clouds of heaven.”
May we be humble and ready for that time.
